Therapy sessions

When clients book for therapy I take their name, date of birth, address, contact number and GP information for safeguarding reasons. This can help identify a person if they go missing or if there is a concern for their safety or the safety of someone else. I also take email address as a secondary method of contact if the client chooses to use this, which is stored electronically on a password protected computer.  If you have contacted me by phone your contact number and name will also appear on my mobile phone which is also password protected.

After clients’ sessions I will make handwritten notes, which are stored in a lockable filing cabinet in my office. This is where the clients’ paper records including personal data are stored securely.

Personal data is stored until 7 years after the client has completed therapy with me, at which point paper records are securely shredded.

Personal data will only be shared with a third party if the client is at risk, is suffering harm or is a risk to others. See also below the section below on Sharing information.
