Reverse Therapy works as a coaching process - if you do it a little bit, you'll get a little bit better, if you do it a lot, you'll get a lot better, and if you do it completely you'll get completely well. Clients are encouraged and supported to take responsibility for carrying through the process between sessions. Symptoms subside once the client starts speaking up and taking the action their body needs for them to be safe, happy and fulfilled. The therapist works with you in the sessions to find out what it is your body needs.
The number of sessions needed is not related to severity or length of illness. It is related to how quickly clients grasp the principles and most importantly put them into action. If you are keen and determined you are likely to get better more quickly! Nationally, the statistics for recovery from ME/CFS are that 75% of clients complete in 6-8 sessions. Most of my clients recover in 4-8 sessions, a few take longer and some take less. Reverse Therapy works best when sessions are taken 2 weeks apart until symptoms start to subside. Some clients come for one or two sessions then stop or think they can go it alone – this is not “doing Reverse Therapy” – it was designed as a coaching process.
Depending on what area you live in the North East I may be able to do up to two home visits. You would then be expected to travel to see me in Durham or York. Email and phone support between sessions may also be available. For some conditions telephone or Skype (free internet calls) Reverse Therapy is now an option - contact me to find out more.
NHS treatments, for CFS/ME, Fibromyalgia, IBS and other conditions are recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE). NICE evaluate all available research and then issue guidelines on what are the most effective treatments. Because Reverse Therapy is such a new and innovative treatment for CFS/ME, trials are only now being set up. In my opinion it will be some time before Reverse Therapy is available on the NHS.
As Reverse Therapy is working with messages from the client’s body, it can be frustrating and confusing to work with Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, psychotherapy or some counselling approaches at the same time. I don’t usually take clients who are currently having these types of therapy.
Lots of clients are trying supplements, massage, homeopathy, detox remedies or other complementary approaches to get well. I do take these clients on, however it is on the understanding that these other therapies, while they may offer some relief, are not going to get at the root cause of the chemical imbalances in the body. They are, therefore, only palliative rather than curative. Reverse Therapy treats the cause by finding out what situations cause the hypothalamus to set off an alarm response and enables the client to take action in those situations so the hypothalamus can return to normal function.
Sessions last approximately 75 minutes and cost £80.
How much have you lost in missed earnings? How much have you spent on tests, supplements and complementary therapies? Can you afford not to come for Reverse Therapy?!
I do have two reduced fee places. These are allocated to those who are keen to try Reverse Therapy but who would otherwise not be able to afford it. Generally these go to people who are on long term benefits and there is no other income coming into the household. In the past I have also organised flexible ways to pay e.g. standing orders over a longer period of time than the therapy actually takes. If you have private health insurance it could be worth asking them about funding Reverse Therapy.
If you have any futher questions or would like to book a free 15 minute phone consultaion please do not hesitate to get in touch.
I am happy to answer any questions you have and advise on whether you would benefit from Reverse Therapy.
